We now have a small herd of Sussex Cows that have settled in really well and producing beautiful beef. The Farm shop opening times have changed and we are now open Thursday and Friday 10-4pm and Saturdays 10-1pm. Sallys homemade pies, cakes and currys are proving very popular.
Sally and Fred's story
Sally and Fred Sterling originate from Croydon, Surrey. They met at school and married in 1971. They lived and worked in Croydon raising four children. Fred ran his construction business and Sally owned and ran a small cafe in Tooting, London, but they always dreamed of living in the country and visited sussex on a regular basis. While the children were growing up Sally always kept lots of pets at home. They came across Red House farm on one of their holidays and fell in love with the house and the surrounding area. They moved there in 2002, and gradually Sally started to keep a small number of animals. Starting with chickens and ducks, together they have grown the smallholding, and now keep chickens, cows, pigs, sheep, donkeys, geese, turkeys and ducks as well as their households pets two boxer dogs and miniature Jack Russell. Fred, Sally and their son Peter all work together looking after the farm and the animals.
